Reproductive and Sexual Health Care Project


IMPACT

More than 100 women were served between 2024 and 2025.

In collaboration with the Mobile Unit of Hospital de Los Valles, we provided gynecological services outside the province of Pichincha, reaching the community of Guaytacama in the province of Cotopaxi.

We deliver comprehensive care alongside gynecologists, laboratory specialists, and nurses, with a human-centered and intercultural approach.

This initiative has the mission of expanding access to culturally relevant sexual and reproductive health (SRH) care and education for women in Quito and the Amazon.

The program offers family planning, contraception, pregnancy tests, and cervical and breast cancer screenings through HPV self-sampling, an innovative method that facilitates early detection and eliminates barriers associated with invasive examinations.

It also includes the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), such as gonorrhea and chlamydia, common in remote Amazonian communities.
I Decide (Quito)
24 Amazonian women residing in Quito.

24 Pap smears, 14 mammograms, 24 breast ultrasounds, 24 medical consultations.
One participant underwent surgery for Bartholinitis and another was vaccinated with three doses against the Human Papillomavirus (HPV).
Working mothers in the textile industry (Imbabura)
10 women without prior access to gynecological check-ups.

10 consultations, 10 pelvic and breast ultrasounds, 10 Pap smears and laboratory tests.
The HDLV covered follow-up, tests, and medications
Collaquí Community (Tumbaco)
15 rural women.
15 consultations, 15 pelvic ultrasounds, 6 mammograms, 1 breast biopsy.
Several women received specialized medical follow-up.
Guaytacama (Cotopaxi)
27 indigenous mothers.
22 Pap smears, 27 breast ultrasounds, 26 pelvic ultrasounds, 21 laboratory tests.
Thirteen cases of bacterial vaginosis, five ovarian cysts, one urinary tract infection, and one case of hyperglycemia were detected, all of which received treatment and medical follow-up.
ABC Preventivo para Profes (Tumbaco y sus alrededores)
60 rural teachers from Tumbaco.
Comprehensive package including Pap smear, ultrasound, mammogram, laboratory tests and personalized medical consultation.
The project seeks to strengthen the culture of prevention and self-care in rural educators.
